Hiring Range: Hiring Range is $95,209 to $120,000. Starting salary is commensurate based on experience, education, and other appropriately qualifying factors within the specified hiring range.

General Description:
Emerging technologies are novel advancements, such as Artificial Intelligence, that are rapidly developing and have the potential to significantly impact the regional economic, industrial, and academic landscape. This position will execute on NOVA's strategic vision for supporting the establishment of a Center for Emerging Technologies that will support the adoption of emerging technologies in specific academic pathways and using them internally to implement improvements in college operations.

This position is restricted and may be renewed on an annual basis or as permitted by available funding and college policy.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Develop and implement the strategic roadmap for the Emerging Technologies Center, aligning initiatives with NOVA's organizational objectives and future technology trends.
  • Support the efforts of faculty, staff, and administrators to drive technological innovation, including Artificial Intelligence across all operational units of the college.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the Emerging Technologies Center and other business units, acting as a bridge to incorporate novel solutions into products, services, and processes.
  • Effectively manage the resources of the Emerging Technologies Center in terms of personnel, rooms, equipment, and technology to support a variety of courses and projects.
  • Establish and maintain ties with local businesses and industries to assess their needs and opportunities within NOVA.
  • Maintain relationships with Business and Industry Leadership Teams to support the college's academic evolution and integration of novel emerging technologies.
  • Provide thought leadership by speaking at industry events and publishing influential content related to advancements in Emerging Technologies.
Employees must reside in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia.

Minimum Qualifications:

KSA's:
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate technical concepts into strategic opportunities for the college.
  • Experience in building teams in an academic setting with internal (college based) and external (business, industry, and university) participants.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities to effectively convey complex, including Artificial Intelligence topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a field appropriately related to the position OR a master's degree that has content in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, OR a master's degree in another field with additional graduate-level coursework in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. Qualifying degree and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
  • Previous experience working in an academic setting, with an emphasis on external partnerships, and project leadership.
  • Experience in building strategic partnerships and maintaining relationships with regional and national business and industry leaders.
  • Exceptional program and project management skills with the ability to lead complete, cross-functional projects from ideation to execution and evaluation.
  • Expertise in the academic and service-oriented application of AI techniques such as machine learning, computer vision, or natural language processing.
  • Expertise in higher education operations, particularly those of community colleges, including academic, student-based, advising, and operational services.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Certification.
  • Any Agile Certifications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis.
  • Previous experience in a community college either as a faculty member or an administrator.
