Role: Field Project Manager (FPM)

Location: New York City, NY and other locations such as Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island ( Hybrid ; 4 days On-site)

Duration: Long Term Contract with Possible Extension

Job Description:

The Field Project Manager (FPM) will oversee day-to-day activities to support the Classroom Connectivity Universal (CCU) Project, a comprehensive network upgrade/refresh initiative across DOE sites. The FPM will manage the integration and installation of network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless systems.

Key Duties Include:

  • Project Oversight: Manage the integration of network and cabling infrastructure at assigned DOE sites.
  • Vendor Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for field vendors, ensuring project goals and timelines are met.
  • Site Coordination: Conduct site surveys with DOE and integration vendors, gather requirements, and ensure the site refresh meets DOE standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough records, including site surveys, Bills of Material (BOM), requirement validation, and risk/issues logs. Ensure timely updates on project status and resolutions to the DOE Program Manager.
  • Collaboration: Act as the liaison between the DOE, schools, and vendors for the network integration process.
  • Site Meetings: Coordinate and manage external on-site meetings with vendors and school personnel, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Project Repository Management: Maintain and update the central repository for all CCU project documents.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with DOE fiscal and capital requirements through accurate project documentation and timely updates.

IT Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage IT projects ensuring timely, budget-compliant delivery that aligns with NYCDOE goals.
  • Oversee requirements assessments, develop floorplans, and create detailed work plans for each site.
  • Coordinate with school custodians and vendors to ensure smooth cable (copper and fiber) installation.
  • Ensure safe working conditions, including checking for AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) hazards.
  • Review and authorize permits and oversee all physical work schedules.
  • Maintain inventory records for new and old equipment, ensuring proper documentation of materials and parts used.
  • Manage acceptance procedures and coordinate with integrators and cable vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Share updates and critical information with school site leaders before, during, and after implementation.
  • Review and manage punch lists, obtaining sign-offs from school leadership once the project is complete.

IMPORTANT: The FPM will be required to travel daily to assigned sites within the five boroughs of NYC. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience:
    • 6+ years of Project Management experience in the Data Networking industry.
    • 6+ years of on-site Field Project Management in Network Infrastructure Installation and Deployment.
    • 5+ years of customer service experience and client-facing roles, interacting with vendors and end-users.
    • 6+ years of experience documenting project deliverables.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Excel, Project).
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on process and quality.
