Data Engineer / Technical Data Steward (Remote Contract)

Our long-time client is seeking a strong Data Engineer who can come in and hit the ground running offering support in standardizing and modeling data. Your efforts will ensure the optimal balance of functionality, integration, and security.

Collaborating with a range of internal stakeholders and IT staff, you will provide solutions that accommodate the dynamic needs of our client s business, ensuring the alignment of master data. Your responsibilities will include developing comprehensive data models to accurately represent data and its interrelations consistently. Additionally, you will establish and manage a flexible infrastructure that enhances the accessibility, definition, management, security, and integrity of data across the company.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in large corporate systems environments with a strong emphasis on data modeling, tailored for versatile usage, security configurations, and adaptability.
  • A minimum of 5 years in Master Data Management support and strategic planning. 2 years of experience with MDM tools, ideally Reltio as our client is implementing.
  • Advanced proficiency in all aspects of data management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the specific business or function for which the data or product is designed, ensuring alignment between data definitions and supporting systems or processes.
  • Ability to educate business and IT stakeholders on Data Governance, Data Profiling, Data Tracing, and Data Analysis methodologies.
  • Proficiency in RDBMS, Star schema, Snowflake, canonical modeling, etc., including knowledge of best practices

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the vision for enterprise data models and support multiple product development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various business units to identify key data standardization projects that align with business goals and strategic directions.
  • Utilize modeling tools (e.g., Idera, Erwin) effectively, adhering to best practices in model communication.
  • Implement and manage data governance frameworks, including aspects of literacy, lineage, and quality.
  • Support the technical aspects of Master Data Management, including workflow, model development, and maintenance, with a preference for tools like Profisee, Reltio, and Semarchy.
  • Aid in managing Data Catalog lineage and literacy using preferred tools such as Alation and Collibra.
  • Ensure proper identification, documentation, and maintenance of data definitions and interfaces.
  • Assist the Enterprise Data Architect in creating and sustaining an architectural platform that facilitates growth through change.
  • Communicate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Work alongside the development team to devise conceptual data models and data flows.
