Job Description:

The Platform Security team at Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented, passionate, and skilled senior leader to help secure, improve, and protect the Battle.net platform. Battle.net is the home of tho usands of gamers world-wide , where players are engaged in Blizzard's legendary fantasy worlds.

Platform Security is responsible for effective and efficient Anti-Cheat and Anti-Fraud systems and operations across all game titles published on Battle.net. As the Technical Director of the group, you will be responsible for the technical vision for the team, working closely with several engineering teams. This includes the definition, design, and realization of technical capabilities and services required to help ensure risks are mitigated and stakeholder trust is protected and preserved.

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned development leader who is passionate about creating and setting the technical vision creating technology to secure and protect our business and our players, with experience of managing and collaborating with multiple engineering teams. We value deep technical experience comb ined with the ability to partner with many different types of people across the company.

This position has been approved for fully remote work with the potential for some light travel. We also welcome candidates who would like to work in a hybrid capacity based out of Albany, NY, Irvine, CA or Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct multi-disciplinary teams of Security Engineering leaders and individual contributors to evaluate and implement platform-wide anti-cheat, anti-fraud, account security and application security capabilities
  • Build vision, provide direction, and clearly articulate the value of Platform Security initiatives that improve the safety, security, and business viability of all products on Battle.net .
  • Effectively manage and mentor leaders and engineers
  • Represent technical capabilities of the team with collaborators and executives, crafting alignment across the platform and all game teams
  • Forward thinking with focus on multi-year goals for the team and then completing them, proven experience and decision-making capabilities at this level .

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience successfully managing multiple engineering teams within a large and fast paced organization
  • Experience in anti-cheat, anti-fraud, or other platform security missions

  • Outstanding leadership skills including, but are not limited to selection , performance management, talent planning, and development and recognition
  • Experience leading other technical and product managers across multiple disciplines .
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with executives and people in the business organization. Able to converse well with analysts, production leaders, design and other engineers .
  • Demonstrated success in building both high performance development teams and strong people, customer, and partner relationships
  • Proven record of solving problems, continuously improving systems and processes

Bonus:

  • Experience as a Technical Director on a AAA Online or Mobile Online Game
  • Experience as a Lead Gameplay, Lead Multiplayer, or Lead Online Engineer
  • Experience as a Gameplay, Multiplayer or Online Engineer
  • Reverse engineering experience
  • Ability to think like the adversary

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $167,500.00 - $309,876.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
