This is a remote position.
Please Note:
- This is a Remote position, but the client prefers candidates from the Eastern Standard Time Zone.
- Work Hours: Monday-Friday (40 hours a week).
- The candidate is open to attending occasional on-site sessions in New York City, if the client requires travel.
Position Summary:
The UX/UI Designer & Developer will play a key role in modernizing the client?s budgeting and vendor systems by designing intuitive, accessible, and user-centered interfaces. The role combines user research, interaction design, and front-end development with a strong focus on usability and compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1). This designer will work closely with Business Analysts, developers, and end users in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct user research and usability testing to uncover workflow challenges and user needs across current client's systems
- Design wireframes, user journeys, process flows, prototypes, and high-fidelit mockups for budgeting and procurement systems
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to translate business workflows into optimized UX flows and UI components
- Implement UI components and front-end elements using accessibility-compliant frameworks and standards
- Ensure all designs and front-end code meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards
- Test and iterate designs based on stakeholder feedback and usability sessions findings
- Participate in sprint planning, demo sessions, and backlog reviews
- Maintain design libraries, pattern standards, and accessibility audits
- Collaborate with developers to ensure implementation fidelity and cross-browser compatibility
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (required)
- 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design and front-end development
- Strong portfolio showcasing web application design, particularly for complex workflows
- Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch) and front-end frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JS, Bootstrap)
- Hands-on experience with accessibility testing and WCAG 2.1 compliance implementation.
- Familiarity with Agile development and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Git)
- Experience working in the public sector or educational systems is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills.
