About the Team:
Our team is currently undergoing a significant transformation, transitioning from a legacy SQL Server platform to a modernized AWS-based data architecture. The team, previously part of the Business Intelligence (BI) group, is now integrated into SDIT and is focused on developing cutting-edge data solutions that support a wide variety of enterprise applications, including Location Lifecycle Management (LLM) and enterprise-level data reporting.
We are looking to bring on three experienced Data Engineers to help bridge the gap between on-premise SQL Server databases and the future cloud infrastructure in AWS. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in scaling and modernizing our database platforms, collaborating closely with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
* Database Development & Engineering: Design, implement, and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases (including MongoDB and possibly PySpark) to support data processing, management, and reporting across multiple platforms
* AWS Cloud Transition: Work as part of a team to transition from on-prem SQL Server databases to AWS services like S3, EMR, and other cloud-based data solutions
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data architects, BI teams, and operations teams to ensure smooth integration of data across systems
* Project Execution: Contribute to the development and deployment of data solutions for 31 active projects, with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and quick ramp-up on new projects
* Quality Assurance & Operations Support: Collaborate with QA teams to ensure the reliability and accuracy of database systems and solutions
REQUIREMENTS:
* Python (for data processing, not software development)
* SQL Server and relational database experience
* Strong knowledge of AWS, especially S3 and EMR
* Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries
* Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, etc.)
* Familiarity with Apache Spark
* Ability to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and platforms
* Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) systems is a plus
Desired Experience:
* At least mid to senior-level experience in database development or data engineering
* Experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure and migration from on-premise systems
* Exposure to MongoDB and PySpark is desirable
* Experience working in a collaborative team environment, with a focus on cross-team partnerships and project delivery
Team & Culture:
* Dynamic & Collaborative Environment: The team is cross-functional, and collaboration is key to success; You will work with both internal teams (team on services; Team on QA and operations) and external partners
* Supportive Learning Culture: There is a strong focus on continuous learning and professional development; Many team members are currently ramping up on AWS, and we encourage skill development through certifications and hands-on experience
* Capacity & Scaling: The team is actively scaling, and you will have opportunities to work on new projects and help shape the future of our data architecture
