Job Title: Senior Telecom Engineer
Location: Portland, OR Experience Required: 5+ Years
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Telecom Engineer to join our team in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise telecommunications systems, including VoIP, unified communications, and telecom infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust telecom solutions that support business operations and ensure seamless communication across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and maintain enterprise telecom systems including VoIP, PBX, SIP, and unified communications platforms.
Manage telecom infrastructure including call routing, trunking, and carrier services.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot telecom issues to ensure high availability and quality of service.
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to manage contracts, SLAs, and escalations.
Lead telecom-related projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
Ensure compliance with telecom regulations and internal security policies.
Maintain documentation for telecom architecture, configurations, and procedures.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior telecom staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in telecom engineering or administration.
Strong knowledge of VoIP technologies (e.g., Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, Microsoft Teams Voice).
Experience with SIP trunking, PBX systems, and telecom carrier services.
Familiarity with network protocols and QoS for voice traffic.
Hands-on experience with telecom monitoring and management tools.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Relevant certifications such as CCNA Voice, Avaya Certified Specialist, or equivalent are preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud-based telephony solutions (e.g., RingCentral, Zoom Phone).
Knowledge of telecom billing and cost optimization strategies.
Exposure to ITIL practices and change management processes.
