Job at a Glance
The client is seeking a Product Designer I to join their Product Design team, which specializes in delivering intuitive, easy-to-use retail technology products across the customer journey. This role is focused on re-designing content-focused UI components, applying atomic design principles in Figma, and contributing to an evolving retail design system.
This is a fully remote, 6-month contract role requiring 2–5 years of experience in product design, ideally in retail or e-commerce settings.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities

Audit and assess existing content-centric UI components and patterns for consistency, accessibility, and system alignment.

Restructure and recreate these components within the advanced retail design system framework.

Apply atomic design methodology: define and manage tokens, atoms, molecules, and organisms with semantic variables.

Elevate aesthetics: produce polished UI deliverables in Figma, aesthetic storytelling, and high fidelity prototypes.

Collaborate with content teams and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) content fragments or similar platforms.
Team-Based Product Design Work

Learn and collaborate within a balanced product team including product managers, software engineers, and business stakeholders.

Participate in structured team formation activities to align purpose, roles, and working agreements.
Discovery and Research

Conduct research discovery to define problems.

Apply mixed-methods research practices.

Gather user feedback and behavioral insights to inform product development.
Experimentation and Development

Validate design effectiveness pre-launch using experimentation, prototype testing, A/B testing, usability testing, etc.

Work with the Homefield design system to deliver end-to-end experiences in collaboration with software engineers.
Ongoing Feedback and Improvement

Monitor usage trends and metrics.

Seek and activate user feedback to drive iterative improvements.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
-
2–5 years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on retail or e-commerce applications.

Mastery of Figma including component libraries, variants, prototyping, design tokens, and semantic variables.

Deep understanding of atomic design systems and scalable UI architecture.

Excellent visual design skills (typography, layout, grid, color, illustration integration).

Experience with content systems (AEM, Contentful, content fragments, etc.) is a major plus.
Preferred Qualifications

Portfolio demonstrating system-based redesigns, component libraries, or content module work.

Experience translating content strategy into UI components.

Familiarity with accessibility standards, semantic markup, and responsive, tokenized UI.
