Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Project Manager with high business acumen and experience in SAP S/4 implementations to join our IT PMO team.
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and delivering the project implementation from initiation to completion, ensuring it is executed on time, within scope, and meet the quality standards set by our organization and clients.
This role requires a blend of strong project management and communication skills in a PMO Implementation environment along with critical thinking. The project manager needs to have a flexible mindset to adapt to quickly changing and competing priorities, fast paced environment, as well as negotiating with challenging stakeholders.
The Project Manager will act as the central point of communication between stakeholders, technical teams, and the PMO, ensuring the project is executed efficiently and effectively meeting business goals and stakeholder needs, therefore, high skill in communication and stake holder management are vital to successfully perform this role.
In addition to that, the Project manager role will lead the BAs and collaborate with them to ensure PMO deliverables, stage gates, checklists and other BA deliverables are adequately generated, providing feedback as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Project leadership and Stakeholder Management
- Lead the project team (internal and Vendor) to successfully achieve the expected project Value and transformation process.
- Manage C-Suite stakeholders to build engagement and present executive briefings as necessary.
- Coordinate with Vendors, customers, and other roles such as Business analysts to establish workshops to gather requirements, define project scope, and align project goals with business needs.
- Own the Master project schedule, coordinating with internal stakeholders and vendor to ensure all project activities and dependencies are identified, tracked, and completed on time.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business, IT, Business Analysts, Technical, SAP consultants, change management and vendors) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Manage client relationships and communication throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to project closeout.
- Manage multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with strategic business and IT goals.
PMO Process
- Ensure PMO artifacts and documentation is generated through all project phases, either internally or by the Vendor.
- Ensure all agreed contractual obligations, project milestones and deliverables are accomplished, documented and completed.
- Establish and enforce PMO governance frameworks for the S/4HANA implementation.
- Update and keep document project decisions, logs, and meeting notes as necessary.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor comprehensive project plans, timelines, budgets, scope, deliverables, and resource augmentation to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify, document and monitor scope/budget changes and oversee the change control process until its implementation.
- Continuously monitor and track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure accountability among team members.
- Conduct and schedule regular project meetings, providing status updates, identifying challenges, and ensuring proactive issue resolution.
- Present status reports, build dashboards and presentations as necessary to convey the current project status and roadmap.
Risk management
- Address issues promptly to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
- Identify potential risks and critical path blockers as needed during the implementation, document and monitor them, bringing stakeholders together to resolve and escalate when necessary.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and drive continuous improvement in project management practices.
Technical
- Identify technical dependencies for the SAP Implementation, present mitigation alternatives and negotiate solutions.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working as a Project Manager within a PMO function managing large-scale ERP transformations.
- Proven ability to manage large, complex projects within a PMO framework, including Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Hands-on experience producing and maintaining PMO artifacts, in a direct capacity (not only as a supervisory level) Example Creating meeting notes, project charters, RAID Logs and other deliverables.
- Proven experience in managing at least one large SAP implementation (preferably S/4 Migration, but other SAP implementation may be valid depending on experience)
- Proven experience in managing projects involving verticals for Finance, Budget, Procurement.
- Strong Critical thinking skills, to identify priorities, identify risks and propose solutions and risk mitigations as needed.
- Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent) is a plus.
- Familiarity with SAP Activate, Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies is a must.
- Strong Stakeholder management skills is a must.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills are a must.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of SAP HANA architecture, database systems, integrations, data conversion and cloud solutions.
Desirable Skills:
- Excellent handling of project management tools (such as MS Project, PPM Pro, and others), as well as excellent experience with Business tools such as Excel, Smartsheet's, etc.
- PMP (or other Project Management certifications) is highly preferred.
- Experience working with SAP Fiori, SAP S/4HANA, or SAP Cloud Platform is a plus.
- Ability to manage relationships with clients and vendors effectively.
- Familiarity with business transformation initiatives.
Work Environment:
- Work will be 100% onsite in San Antonio, TX (Mon-Friday) at 8-5 pm Business hours, in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with competing priorities.
