Job Details

Title: IT Specialist - Onsite

Location: Mescalero Service Unit, New Mexico

Client: Indian Health Service (IHS)

Duration: 3-6 Months

Essential Functions:

  • The IT Specialist is responsible for effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, administrators, and medical staff to effectively provide healthcare services.
  • This individual is accountable for the following systems: Windows systems; Windows and Applications that are supported for use with and include the RPMS and EHR Systems; responsibilities on these systems include support and maintenance to ensure continual operations.
  • Additionally, they will need full administrative rights to all server systems, network resources, and data management/backup solutions.

Operations:

  • Map related solutions for various projects and operational needs based on the policies of Client with COR approval.
  • Install new/ rebuilding existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, in accordance with Client standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain Client system standards.
  • Recommend innovations where possible to automate system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources.

Support:

  • Perform monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
  • Performs security monitoring.
  • Perform backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and purge as necessary.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts as needed.
  • Investigate and troubleshooting issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
  • Requires at least one support IT staff from Client under direction as needed.

Maintenance:

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Configure/ add new services as necessary.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, and other procedures.
  • Perform bi-weekly written progress reports to COR.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Maintains data center monitoring of equipment.

Communication/Interpersonal Contacts:

  • Work Monday-Friday up to 40 hrs. as needed. No holidays.
  • Provides occasional guidance, some of which is technical.
  • Provide training sessions to end users when necessary.
