As an intermediate Server Break-Fix Technician, you will be working in a Data Center on a team of Server Break-Fix Technicians and Leads in collaboration with remote-adjacent sysadmin teams. You will work a Monday through Friday 8-to-5 shift supporting server installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. You will also provide remote hands support for networking equipment and cabling. You will participate in an on-call rotation and occasionally work after-hours onsite. As an intermediate Server Break-Fix Technician, you are expected to possess superior knowledge and experience working in Data Centers, with Servers and related knowledge.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Support a large fleet of servers and data centers for a prominent customer
  • Apply an intermediate approach to diagnostic methods to troubleshoot data center equipment including servers, network switches and peripheral devices
  • Apply an intermediate approach to server repair methods
  • Understand and follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) in the execution of day-to-day work
  • Perform thorough documentation using the prescribed service ticket management system and OEM portals
  • Perform in-depth repair on servers (replace hard drives, memory modules, power supply, motherboards, backplanes, etc.) and other data center equipment independently
  • Order, receive and pull required parts or components accurately as specified in the SOP/WI
  • Assist in the physical moving of racks and equipment as directed for special projects
  • Update inventory information as specified in the process and directives
  • Ensure compliance with the identified process to maintain an organized and tidy work environment
  • Ensure compliance with administrative directives
  • Perform other tasks as directed by management
  • Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety standards within the data center
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents or near misses to management immediately.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (e.g. gloves, safety shoes, hard hats).
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices

What You Will Need To Succeed
  • Hands-on computer/server hardware break-fix experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer applications
  • Exposure to service management or ticketing system
  • Effective communication and listening skills, written and verbal fluency in English
  • Self-motivated, fast learner
  • Able to work independently and a proactive team-player
  • Capable of multitasking with high level of attention to detail

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to responsibly and safely:
  • Work in a data center environment, which may include exposure to electrical equipment
  • Operate server lift or other lifting equipment.
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Push, pull, or move heavy servers or data center hardware as required.
  • Withstand prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Climb ladders or step stools and work at heights to access high storage areas.
  • Safely navigate stairs and elevated platforms as required.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate equipment and handle small components, wiring, and tools with precision.
  • Must have adequate vision to read labels, operate equipment and perform quality checks.
  • Ability to hear and respond to alarms, equipment sounds and verbal communication in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including heat and cold, especially in data halls, mechanical rooms, and other areas that may not be temperature-controlled.
  • Ability to wear required safety gear, including anti-static wrist straps, gloves, protective eyewear, appropriate shoes, and hearing protection

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous ticket system exposure, preferably ServiceNow
  • Knowledge of computer applications preferably in the Google Workspace
  • Hardware break-fix experience, preferably in a data center environment

The estimated pay range for this position is USD $27.00/Hr - USD $29.00/Hr.
