Role:- Functional Lead Customer Billing (Customer 1)
Location: Preferably in Waltham / Boston, MA Area. Remote options can be considered for exceptional candidates.
Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Functional Lead to lead the billing process definition, optimization, and stakeholder coordination for Customer 1, one of our strategic enterprise clients. This role requires a deep understanding of billing processes, customer requirements, and cross-functional collaboration between business and technical teams to ensure accurate, timely, and scalable billing solutions.

Candidate should be having following functional skills.
- Energy & Utility domain
- Specific to Customer/1:
o Understanding about Meter-To-Cash (M2C) process
o CSS Data Modeling
o CSS-Meter download and upload process
o CSS-Prebilling
o CSS-Billing (Regular billing, Off cycle billing, Budget Billing, Billing exception handling, CARP processing, Payment plans etc.)
o CSS-Invoicing
o CSS Cash processing
o CSS-Credit and collection, Service orders.
- CSS Dev Tool
- Tariff modeling (i.e. Rate, Revenue, Rider, Charge type, cons type etc.)
- AMI and Non-AMI meters, Interval, Non-interval readings
- Net Metering
- Remote Net Metering
- Smart grid
- On-Peak, Off-Peak etc.
- Business Analysis:
o Strong skills in business process mapping, requirement documentation, and stakeholder interviews
o Experience with user story creation, acceptance criteria definition, and backlog grooming
- Communication & Stakeholder Management:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and balance competing priorities
- Tools & Methodologies:
o Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Excel, Visio, or Lucidchart
o Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Requirement Gathering & Documentation:
Engage with business stakeholders and Customer 1 to gather, define, and validate billing requirements, including pricing models, invoice formats, tax rules, and usage metrics.
- Process Design & Optimization:
Design and document billing workflows that align with Customer 1 s contract terms and service-level agreements; identify and recommend process improvements.
- Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Success teams to ensure alignment and execution of billing-related initiatives.
- Functional Testing & Validation:
Define test scenarios and perform functional testing on billing solutions to validate compliance with business requirements.
- Customer Communication & Support:
Act as the primary functional interface for Customer 1, managing expectations, gathering feedback, and resolving functional billing issues.
- Change Management:
Support change request processes by assessing impacts, coordinating approvals, and managing deployment timelines for billing-related enhancements.
- Training & Enablement:
Provide training and documentation to internal stakeholders on Customer 1 billing processes and tools.
- Reporting & Analysis:
Analyze billing reports, trends, and exceptions to ensure business rules are functioning as intended; support finance teams in reconciliation and audit processes.
