Summary

The HomeKit team provides the foundation that enables an entire ecosystem of secure and intelligent home connectivity. We are developing technologies and crafting experiences that revolutionize the way people harmonize with the accessories around them. The team is seeking a dedicated engineer to help build the Home automation platform and take it to the next level. As a Software Screener/Integrity Engineer on the HomeKit team, you'll bring your keen observational and analytical skills, empathy for users, and passion for quality to an engineering team working to make the next version of HomeKit remarkably great!

Key Qualifications

Experience in scripting (Python, Bash or similar) and system languages (C, C++ or similar)Screen incoming bugs (understand, reproduce and regress) Use debugging tools to do an initial triage of bug reportsIdentify potential trends in incoming bugs and escalate to cross-functional teamsDrive improvement of test coverage and new product features based on incoming bugsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills

Description

As a software triage automation engineer on the Home development team you will triage incoming bugs, understand and find your way through the source code, analyze logs, determine priority of issues and most importantly focus on automating this process as much as possible.You will be encouraged to spot emerging issues from bug reports filed by Apple employees and external developers, follow up with bug filers to collect additional information that can help the team debug. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of an area of HomeKit and apply that knowledge to engineering design discussions and feature planning. You will drive our day-to-day process around bug and source code management in service of delivering high quality features and improvements to our developers and users.Excellent communication skills are a must, because of the high level of interaction with the engineering teams, management, other organizations within Apple. The ideal candidate will be highly technical, have meticulous organization skills with a genuine passion for diagnosing and triaging software issues.

Education & Experience

BS CS/CE/EE or equivalent experience

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
