Leidos DSI is seeking a talented, detail-oriented Senior Systems Engineer in Washington DC! We serve high profile customers including all branches of federal, state, and local government, as well as commercial clients. Leidos DSI delivers industry-leading digital communications and workflow software along with excellent customer support.
Location: The ideal candidate must be with located within a commutable distance of our office in Washington DC. This position will be 100% in-office during the first 90 days of employment, and 50% remote work after 90 days.

Leidos DSI is seeking a talented, detail-oriented Senior Systems Engineer in Washington DC! We serve high profile customers including all branches of federal, state, and local government, as well as commercial clients. The Challenge:
- Act as the primary technical steward of daily operations for mission critical business application for our government customers.
- Design, develop, and implement infrastructure systems supporting customer business applications. Requires a strong VMWare background.
- Ensure required configuration baselines, vulnerability remediation, backup/recovery capabilities, and application availability meet technical requirements and performance expectations.
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships by serving as the primary technical point of contact for government system owner/customer stakeholders, by capturing and managing requirements, and by working to ensure customer needs are well understood and effectively represented across customer, organizational and internal stakeholders.
- Operate with systems and data security front of mind at all times. Secure systems in accordance with government enterprise IT security standards and policies, prepare for and participate in security audits, maintain a cadence of regular inspection, review and remediation to maintain audit-worthy posture throughout the system lifecycle.
- Research and analyze emerging technologies and tools to efficiently manage changes and ensure continuity for the customer, keeping pace with those changes.
What Sets You Apart (Basic Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree with eight plus (8+) years of prior systems engineering experience or Master's degree plus (6+) years of prior systems engineering experience. May consider additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- U.S Citizenship required
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret level security clearance after hire date
- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail, commitment to accountability, and tenacity in framing, diagnosing, documenting and remediating system issues
- Demonstrated success building and maintaining customer relationships
- Broad range of technical expertise including a healthy mix of the following:
- VMWare (design, configure, deploy, maintain with high availability)
- Windows, Active Directory, GPO, scripting and automation
- RHEL Linux/Ubuntu
- Experience remediating vulnerabilities leveraging reporting from Nessus or similar tools
- Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, BigFix BES or similar
- Strong command networks and segmentation
- Configuration Management best practices and tools
- Familiarity with NetApp or similar enterprise SAN systems
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support after hours/weekend work to avoid interruption to customer operational schedules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including tools for maintaining system design documentation (SDD) and network diagrams

- Supporting DevOps Server environment with technologies that support development and containerized applications - Tanzu/Docker
- CI/CD Pipelines - Git or similar
- AWS and/or Azure experience
