Role: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Austin, TX (Onsite, candidates must be local to the Austin area)

Duration: 11 Months (1900 Hours)

Summary:

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and support cloud environments in AWS and Azure. This role supports enterprise-level systems, hybrid-cloud initiatives, and CI/CD pipelines for modern application development.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Build and maintain multi-cloud infrastructure

Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Support CI/CD and cloud-native development

Setup and manage virtual networks

Minimum Candidate Characteristics:

3+ years hands-on experience with AWS and Azure, including core services and networking

Scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, or Bash

CI/CD experience with tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:

Experience with one or more Texas State Agencies

Experience with state or federal DOT

AWS or Azure cloud certification

Hybrid cloud and on-prem integration experience

Experience with cloud cost management tools

Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.

Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.

Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity using native and third-party tools.

Ensure best practices in security, compliance, and cost optimization across both cloud environments.

Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native applications.

Set up and manage virtual networks, VPNs, security groups, IAM roles/policies, load balancers, and storage accounts.

Troubleshoot cloud service issues and performance bottlenecks.

Participate in cloud migration initiatives, hybrid-cloud setups, and disaster recovery planning.

Maintain cloud documentation, operational runbooks, and diagrams.

Minimum (Required):

3 Years of Hands-on experience with both AWS and Azure cloud platforms.

3 Years of Strong understanding of cloud networking, security controls, and identity/access management in both environments.

3 Years of Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab.

3 Years of Proficient in scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) and automation.

3 Years of Familiar with monitoring/logging tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Zenoss, and Splunk.

3 Years of Hands-on experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS/EKS).

Preferred (Optional):

Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator/Architect Associate, or equivalent.

Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises integration.

Knowledge of cloud cost management tools (e.g., Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer).

Familiarity with DevSecOps and cloud compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, SOC 2).
