Job Details
Our client is searching for DACS Telecommunications Technicians to decommission various locations. These locations could require travel for several months at a time depending on the site, which could be in different states throughout the country.
This project should take about one year.
Candidates must submit to a drug, background, and DMV test.
The Telecommunications Technician is responsible for the decommissioning, grooming, and removal of telecommunications infrastructure from central office and remote locations. This role includes working on sites, fiber optic networks, copper systems.
The position requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in various field environments. This role ensures safe and efficient site exists while maintaining equipment inventory, coordinating with stakeholders, and restoring sites to contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Preferred background:
Ability to log into telecommunications equipment like DWDM, SONET, Routers, Switches, MUXes.
Fiber Optics experience. (Running jumpers, clean fiber)
Experience with test equipment. (OTDRs, tests sets...)
Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Decommissioning & Removal
- Conduct site surveys and audits
- Perform network circuit grooms to completion that new circuit path is actively passing traffic
- Be able to use CLI (Command Line Interface) on equipment management ports
- Decommission telecommunication sites and infrastructure
- Work inside maintenance windows if work is required
- Remove coaxial cables, fiber optic cables, and associated hardware
- Tag cabling disconnected from equipment and tie back to cable tray
- Coordinate equipment disconnection with network operations to prevent service disruptions
- Perform proper shutdown procedures for active equipment before removal
- Test and verify fiber optic connections using OTDR and power meters
