We're seeking an engineer with Spacecraft/Space Vehicle experience who can act as a Space Vehicle Lead and Product Line Manager responsible for overseeing the development, production, and lifecycle management of our BCP-300 spacecraft product line. The ideal candidate will be a proven space systems leader, capable of evolving this proven platform to enable multiple customers' mission needs in an increasingly competitive market.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:
  • Lead a cross-functional team to drive execution and design efficiency through evolution of BAE's proven BCP-300 platform to lower cost and reduce schedule.
  • Apply product line engineering practices and tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum, roadmap planning, phase-out strategies, etc.) to maximize reuse and manage supported spacecraft configurations.
  • Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test principles for multi-unit build.
  • Work collaboratively across internal organizations, including manufacturing, supply chain, mission assurance and finance to establish product execution baseline.
  • Work collaboratively with our space systems business unit leadership to understand needs, emerging trends, and competitive landscape for national, military, and civil mission applications to inform our spacecraft product line roadmap.
  • Develop and maintain cost and schedule baseline for spacecraft product line in support of new business pursuits.
  • Provide support to new business pursuits, proposals, and execution teams through a product line approach to our proven spacecraft platform.
  • Work with marketing and communications team to market the developed and upcoming capabilities of the BCP-300 spacecraft product line.
  • Mentor other systems engineers assigned to this team.
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 16 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Experience making risk-based assessments in cost and schedule challenged space system design.
  • Experience across space system life cycle from conceptual design through completion of Space Vehicle Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T).
  • Experience with cost estimating and project schedule development.
  • Effective communication skills with internal cross-functional team and to external stakeholders and customers.

  • Superb communication and presentation skills are required.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience with launch and on-orbit operations.
  • Experience in new product development processes and project management methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $173000 - $218000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
