Role Summary

As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer on the Future Programs Team, you'll take a first principles approach to product development, starting with problems identified through research with real people and develop solutions though iterative prototyping, testing, refinement and ultimately into production. Through this work, you will be a key member of the team developing brand-defining products that inspire and delight Rivian customers.

Responsibilities

  • Own the engineering design and development of structural closures, mechanisms, and securing features
  • Generate concept sketches, mechanical designs 3D/2D, physical prototypes, and presentation materials to effectively communicate ideas to teammates and leadership
  • Develop and manage your parts and component data within a PLM environment
  • Coordinate the verification and validation activities for your parts or systems
  • Work with both domestic and international suppliers to ensure quality and program timing objectives are met

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 6+ years of industry experience, or equivalent
  • A creative, first-principals, systems-thinking approach to solving problems
  • Proficiency creating CAD model and drawings following ANSI Y14.5, preferably CATIA V6
  • Proficiency designing in metallics and plastics
  • Experience working with domestic and international suppliers

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $149,700.00 - $187,100.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
