Duration: 12 Months

Reworked Job Description

This Senior Principal Consultant role acts as the primary SME for all HOST-related activities, bridging offshore development teams and U.S.-based stakeholders to ensure rapid incident response, stable production operations, and continuous improvement of core C/Linux/Oracle applications. You will own critical production systems, lead incident and change management, and drive modernization and reliability initiatives across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Incident & Change Management
    • Triage, debug, and resolve production issues quickly; lead root cause analysis and postmortems for major incidents.
    • Review and validate changes, plan rollbacks, and coordinate production deployments with minimal disruption.
  • Collaboration & Leadership
    • Serve as the primary liaison between offshore teams and U.S. stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
    • Partner with development, QA, product, and operations teams to guide system design for reliability, scalability, and supportability.
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation, runbooks, and playbooks for HOST systems.
  • Monitoring & Observability
    • Design and maintain real-time monitoring dashboards, alerts, and observability tooling (logs, metrics, traces).
    • Tune alert thresholds to reduce noise and improve signal quality for production incidents.
  • Development & Maintenance
    • Design and develop C/Linux/Oracle-based applications supporting multiple states and use cases.
    • Reduce defect backlog and technical debt each PI, improving overall code quality and stability.
    • Decrease turnaround time on production issues; participate in annual DR exercises to validate failover.
  • Upgrades, Security & Compliance
    • Upgrade legacy OS and application stacks to supported, secure versions.
    • Refactor and rewrite existing code to address security vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks.
    • Perform quarterly audit reviews, support DMV/external audits, and reconcile EFT totals and billing summaries.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience in C, Linux, and Oracle as a senior developer or technical lead.
  • Proficiency with RESTful APIs, Git, and solid understanding of Oracle schema design and integration.
  • Effective communication skills with experience working in global, distributed teams; willingness to work onsite in Portland on a hybrid schedule.

Preferred Skills

  • Deep expertise in C, Linux, and Oracle performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and RESTful API design and development.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and GitHub Actions-based CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Docker containers (Kubernetes a plus), Swagger/Postman, and Jira boards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and drive initiatives.
  • Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
