Job Details

Job Title: Data Governance Analyst
Duration: 6+ months contract, possible CTH in the future
Visa Restrictions: Must be able to convert without sponsorship
Location: Based out of NY - Iselin or Stamford ideal. 1 day/week onsite.
Interview process: Will be a couple rounds - 3-4 people 30 minutes - virtual.
Must have:
  1. Build out data, using Power BI for data quality must be a cross functional collaborative person.
  2. Understanding of Data governance pillars and concepts General Data governance background who understands data quality rules, cataloging, etc. and can work with the business and tech teams. They re looking to bridge the gap in communication between the two.
  3. SQL to troubleshoot
  4. 2-3 years of experience at a minimum
Nice to have:
  1. Experience with Ataccama is ideal, but experience with any similar Data Governance tool is HIGHLY preferred
  2. They use Python and R but not a ton, big plus if they have it Python is more prominent in this skill set.
  3. They re a MS / Azure shop someone who has worked in this environment would be great to help build out this team and be able to speak with their Data Delivery team on requirements.
  4. Insurance industry is helpful but not required
The team uses SharePoint, JIRA, confluence. There are some repetitive tasks, every day is going to be a challenge since this a new department. Will be setting up Data Quality rules in the beginning and automating tasks when possible.
Key responsibilities:
  • Data quality
    • build & run DQ rules daily
      • including reconciliations between data stores/locations & comparing current to prior data
    • automate where possible
    • work with business to define rules
    • work with IT to fix breaks
    • Track metrics daily
    • Build/maintain dashboards and performance for mgmt.
  • Documentation
    • Build/maintain data catalog (dictionary (technical detail) / glossary (business detail))
    • Help derive data governance policy/standards/guiding principles details
    • Assist in lineage efforts where needed
  • Cross-functional collaboration
    • Work very closely with technical and business teams be the bridge/liaison between the two functions
    • Work closely with teams involved in project backlog, add governance insight
    • Get involved with global data efforts where needed
Key capabilities:
  • 2-3+ years experience in data governance (DG)
    • Understand DG concepts
  • Prior insurance experience a huge plus
  • Detail-oriented; multi-task
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills
  • Strong skills in excel suite and other data analysis tools
  • Strong communication skills
  • Power BI, SQL, data governance tools (Ataccama ONE/DQ modules), MDM/RDM tools (Ataccama RDM) a must
    • Python, R, other programming languages a plus
    • Microsoft azure suite familiarity or experience a plus
    • SharePoint / JIRA / Confluence site development experience a big plus
