Job Details

Responsibilities

  • Participate in architecture discussions and review with various IT groups' technical, business, and use case requirements; ensure supportability requirements and standards are followed.
  • Identify and develop new standards to maintain or improve stability and scalability of the current network environment with specific considerations to sustainability and future-proof design.
  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches to configuration and applications that enable cloud-first architecture; identify approaches that leverage existing resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Author documents that improve governance and librarianship with system-related architectures.
  • Participate in all phases of development life-cycle environments including development, test, staging and production infrastructure systems, applications, servers and cloud services.
  • Integrate cloud operations with legacy processes.
  • Daily infrastructure services support, engineering and administration in multi-vendor environment.
  • Manage relationships with vendor support of multiple systems to troubleshoot and investigate the root cause of performance and failure issues.
  • Mentor and train peers on best practices and operations related issues.
  • Actively participate in performance and high-availability planning.
  • Provide guidance to team members in the daily support of various backup systems ensuring successful backups and test backups at regular intervals.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Improve performance of the systems by researching, evaluating and recommending new technology products and services.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information System, Computer Science or related field of study from an accredited college or university. In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in Linux administration, Windows Server administration in a multi-site domain and multi-trust forest, and virtualization technology, provisioning compute and storage resources; experience supporting and
  • deploying Cloud computing services, including IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service), PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service), and SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) deployments.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Experience with PowerShell.
  • Practical experience with SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and DevOps processes.
  • Experience with Veeam Cloud Backups or other Enterprise class backup solutions.
  • Experience with thin provisioning and thick provisioning best practices.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification in MS Windows 2012 technologies.
  • Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) Certifications.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) Certified.
  • Azure Certifications.
  • Experience working with DevOps and agile workflows.
  • Experience with Okta for Identity Management.
  • Experience working with Extra Hop, Wireshark, and other network troubleshooting tools.
  • Previous experience developing, implementing, and operating large-scale, highly available environments through a public cloud provider (AWS services and technologies).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to stay current on knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and white papers.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform automation of services using AWS CloudFormation, Amazon EC2 Systems manager, AWS Config, AWS OpsWorks, AWS Service Catalog, AWS CodeDeploy.
  • Skilled in determining how a system should work, changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Expert knowledge with AWS design, architecture and services (IAM, EC2, VPC, ELB, AutoScaling, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudFront, S3, Cloudwatch, Lambda, KMS, EKS, ElasticSearch, WAF, Secret Manager, Amazon Connect, etc.).
  • Expert knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and services catalog.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes: build, run and maintain.
  • In-depth understanding of Networks and Firewalls (Palo Alto NGFW).
  • In-depth knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and DevOps processes.
  • Working intermediate knowledge of Linux CLI commands, SSH, and SCP.
  • Knowledge of electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor systems for anomalies that require investigation and resolution.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Active Directory and Windows domain environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of backup and recovery systems using Symantec Backup Exec., Veeam, scripting and native backup applications.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS SQL service configuration and load balancing.
  • Advanced knowledge of share and NTFS permissions.
  • Understanding of general networking principles pertaining to a large enterprise WAN environment.
  • Understanding of hardware associated with hosted solutions including switches and load balancers.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies (iSCSI, CIFS, NFS, etc.).
  • Ability to maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policy.
