Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat provides an unparalleled learning experience for college students, offering practical exposure in the defense industry alongside professionals, shaping and supporting the future of submarine innovation.

As a Program Planning or Data Management intern you will receive hands-on learning experiences in various departments across the full range of professions that support ongoing business operations. Interns are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. With the guidance of Electric Boat's senior staff and management, Program Planning or Data Management Interns will assist planners, data management coordinators, or data modelers with a variety of tasks and projects, depending on their assignment. Possible areas of assignment include the following:

Advance Planning/Engineering Planning: Supporting the company's work planning and tracking systems which control production and scheduling.

Data Management: Supporting the architecture of the company' scheduling software and performing various "what-if" scenario analysis or data modelling and reporting.

Resource Planning: Reviewing, updating, and providing insight into the company's manpower plan and spreading of resources to accomplish required workloads.

Each intern accepted into the program will be given a Mentor for duration of the internship. As an intern you will have the opportunity to gain real life experience in the work force, gain insight into the internal processes of a major corporation, and apply the skills acquired in school related to the Business Management & Finance area of interest.

This program requires a minimum commitment of 8 weeks during the Summer 2026 Season.

This is not a remote opportunity.

Please note you may be assigned to work at any of the following locations: Groton CT, North Stonington CT, New London CT, Quonset Point, RI and you will need reliable transportation and housing for the duration of your intern assignment.

Qualifications

To be qualified for this position:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • ship is required
  • Must be able to successfully pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check
  • Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university
  • At minimum students must have completed their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum eight (8) consecutive weeks between May 2026 to September 2026; part time positions are not available
  • Working towards a Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Computer Science or other business-related degree program
