Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Application Developer to support the Program Monitoring Support Tasks area within a large-scale Medicaid or health and human services environment. This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining custom applications and system enhancements that support program oversight, data tracking, compliance, and reporting efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience developing applications in support of public sector programs, with a strong understanding of how to build tools that improve program visibility and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain custom applications and scripts that support program monitoring, compliance tracking, and data reporting
- Collaborate with business analysts, program staff, and other developers to understand monitoring requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Build and enhance dashboards, data input forms, automated workflows, and system interfaces to support program oversight functions
- Ensure applications are scalable, secure, and maintainable, and meet both functional and technical requirements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including code comments, user guides, and system design specifications
- Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing to validate application functionality and performance
- Monitor and troubleshoot application issues, resolving bugs and supporting performance optimization as needed
- Ensure solutions comply with security, accessibility, and regulatory standards
- Stay current with emerging technologies and development best practices, recommending improvements as appropriate
- Support integration efforts with MMIS, data warehouses, or third-party monitoring tools, as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 3 5 years of experience in application development, preferably in the public sector or healthcare environment
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, .NET, Python, or JavaScript, depending on the project environment
- Experience with web development frameworks and tools (e.g., React, Angular, ASP.NET, or similar)
- Familiarity with databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) and writing complex queries and stored procedures
- Understanding of program monitoring concepts, performance metrics, and reporting tools in a Medicaid or human services context
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or hybrid development environments
- Knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance considerations in government IT projects is a plus
