About the Role
As a Technical Claims Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of complex and high-value commercial general and auto liability claims (including primary, umbrella, and excess). You'll serve as the technical lead for Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), ensuring claims are handled with precision, compliance, and timeliness. While not a people-management role, this position carries leadership-level responsibilities in terms of oversight, influence, and strategic guidance.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the end-to-end handling of complex liability and trucking claims managed by TPAs.
- Drive exceptional claim outcomes through strategic oversight, technical coaching, and execution.
- Serve as a key liaison between claims teams, TPAs, underwriters, legal, operations, and business units.
- Provide technical support and mentoring to TPA claim handlers to ensure alignment with best practices and client expectations.
- Review and manage coverage evaluations, litigation strategy, and settlement negotiations-often involving large loss exposures.
- Deliver timely and clear communications with insureds, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Attend mediations, trials, and settlement conferences as needed to advocate for optimal resolutions.
- Monitor claim file documentation, diary management, reserving, and financial accuracy within granted authority.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives including audits, training sessions, and process refinement.

qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in commercial general and auto liability claims, preferably with large/complex exposures.
- Background in trucking, construction, or emergency services/medical professional liability is highly desirable.
- Prior experience overseeing TPAs is a significant advantage.
- Juris Doctor (JD) preferred but not required.
- Proven track record in litigation strategy, complex settlement negotiations, and legal budget management.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
- Adept at managing multiple high-exposure cases in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must hold or be able to obtain and maintain all required state adjuster licenses.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.

TPA management exposure would be ideal, some leadership experience but will not be direct HR people manager (will supervise third party team members handling claims directly...mentor, train, audit files, meeting with team to ensure team members are handling claims based on compliance regulations.)
Prefer someone that has worked in handling highest, most severe claims (starting at 500K+). Will be working closely with underwriting, general council, actuary team, leadership. Will need to have very strong comms and ability to interact with leadership/generate reports.
Person can't be too far from the desk - willing and able to still work hands on.
