Description
Nature of Work:
- Under general supervision, is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks. Performs related work as required.
Examples of Work:
- Design and architect computer networks, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, based on organizational requirements and best practices
- Develop network topology diagrams, IP addressing schemes, and routing protocols to ensure efficient data transmission and connectivity
- Deploy and configure network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points to establish connectivity and secure network infrastructure
- Conduct network audits, performance assessments, and capacity planning to identify potential issues and scalability requirements
- Implement and enforce network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and access controls
- Identify root causes of network issues and implement corrective actions to restore service and minimize downtime
- Implement configuration management processes to track changes, updates, and revisions to network devices and configurations
SKILLS MATRIX:
- 5 years - Experience installing, configuring, and supporting Cisco equipment in the following areas of operation: Routers and Switches, Wireless Networking, Network Security, Voice over IP
- 3 years - Installing, configuring, and supporting Cisco Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW)
- 3 years - The network engineer candidate must have at a minimum the Cisco CCNP certification in Routing and Switching. Additional consideration for a CCIE certification in Routing and Switching. Certifications must be submitted with the response
- 3 years - The network engineer candidate must be able to install, configure, and maintain Cisco equipment, including various routers, switches, next-generation firewalls, VPN solutions, remote access, Radius Servers, and Wireless solutions/devices
The network engineer candidate is required to provide the following onsite response times upon request:
- Four (4) hours to HQ at 900 Pennsylvania Avenue, Charleston, WV
- Four (4) hours to 1 Greyhound Drive, Cross Lanes, WV 25313
- Six (6) hours to 64 Sterling Drive, Bridgeport, WV
- Six (6) hours to 300 W Main Street, White Sulphur Springs, WV
- Eight (8) hours to 100 Municipal Plaza Suite 100, Weirton, WV
- Eight (8) hours to 1 South Stone Street, Wheeling, WV 26003
- Eight (8) hours to Rt 2, Chester, WV
- Ten (10) hours to Rt 340, Charles Town, WV
Examples of Work:
- Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, addressing schemes, and server, router, switch, and security configurations.
