Job Description:

The Project Manager executes projects from medium to large across multi-functional teams that support the achievement of organizational strategic priorities. Acts as Super PM of PMs or team leads. Orchestrates internal and external stakeholder teams that consist of both technical Team PMs and business/creative Team Leads and ensures the timely completion of project objectives and scope.

May orchestrate work during Discovery and Design phases as well as go-to-market implementations. Establishes project workspace and project communication plans and ensures all stakeholders are informed regarding project status, issues and impacts, as well as working norms. Manages to milestone rather than to tasks. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline processes and develop new procedures that support the business unit/department. No budget stewardship responsibilities.

Achieves success by optimizing on aptitudes of curiosity, connecting the dots across stakeholder teams, problem-solving, leadership, organizational abilities, and communication.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Executes strategic initiatives by managing all aspects of large and complex projects and defining how these projects will be implemented. Acts as Super PM of PMs and team leads.
  2. Oversees all aspects of project management including project charter development, identifying stakeholders (team PMs or leads) across multi-functional business and technical teams; defines communication approaching (including developing and maintaining project workspace); captures and clarifies project scope, creates and manages project schedules and track tasks, identifies project risks and defines mitigation plans; engages stakeholders, and oversees project retrospectives.
  3. Updates and maintains associated project management processes, and helps to develop and implement new and evolving business processes.
  4. Defines milestones and reports on the health of projects to team and senior management. Highlights risk mitigation plans and trade-offs needed to move project forward.
  5. Oversees the execution of administrative tasks as necessary, such as calendaring, organizing meetings, and ensures the documentation of meetings results.
  6. Identifies project management process improvements through project retrospectives and determination of best practices.

Qualifications

  • Top PM aptitudes needed for success: Curiosity; connecting the dots (across stakeholder teams); problem-solver; leadership; organizing, communication.
  • Project managers with experience managing technical and creative projects, as projects will have stakeholders from both types of workstreams.
  • Program managers might also qualify for this position.
  • Ability to manage and lead from ambiguity to clarity.
  • Specific project management applications used by our team Confluence and Jira, Smartsheet, Teams, SharePoint. Must have working knowledge of these applications or similar.
