In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our firm's electronic resources and information sources to ensure efficient and effective access to legal research materials and knowledge databases.

Description

The RIS Operations Specialist will report into the RIS Operations Manager and handle the following:



  • Oversee the selection, acquisition, and renewal of electronic resources such as legal databases, research tools, and subscriptions.

  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the usability and value of information sources, including organizing and categorizing content for easy retrieval.

  • Provide technical support and training to attorneys and staff on using electronic resources and information retrieval systems effectively.

  • Coordinate with vendors and negotiate contracts for electronic resources, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with firm policies.

  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging trends in legal information management and make recommendations for improvements to enhance productivity and workflow.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding information management and security protocols for electronic resources.

  • Collaborate with other departments such as IT, Knowledge Management, and Legal Research to enhance information sharing and streamline processes.

Profile


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Library Science, or a related field,

  • Experience working in a law firm or legal environment, with knowledge of legal research methodologies and tools.

  • Proficiency in electronic resources management and familiarity with legal databases.

  • ALM Law.com, CasePortal (CNS), Lexis +, Overdrive Marketplace, Vital Law, Westlaw, and West KM;

  • Strong technical skills with experience in database administration, content management systems, and information retrieval systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support users at all levels.

  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Knowledge of data privacy and security best practices.
