job summary:

Looking for a talented UEFI engineers to deliver great customer experiences. As a UEFI engineer the candidate will take bug repro's and autonomously debug and find root cause and deliver high quality fixed code - across Surfaces complete in market product portfolio.


The candidate will have the opportunity work with the Post Launch Engineering Dev team as well as other PLE teams, Surface UEFI engineers, electrical engineers, system engineers, architects and other software engineers to find and fix problems that are affecting our Surface customers.

responsibilities:

- Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to support in market products - bug fixes and feature revisions.


- Key projects: This role will contribute to take bug repro's and autonomously debug and find root cause and deliver high quality fixed code - across Surfaces complete in market product portfolio.


- Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 70% working on bugs, 20% updates, management, working with others, and 10% miscellaneous




qualifications:

- Minimum BS in Computer/Software Engineering or related field.


- Minimum of 3+ years of experience contributing to the embedded firmware development for products in the consumer PC or consumer electronics industry.


- C language development experience (assembly, C# and other higher level languages as well as host level application programming a plus)


- UEFI development experience


- ACPI development experience


- Extensive use of GIT for code management


- Project Mu experience


- Python scripting experience




skills: - Azure DevOps experience


- Proven Embedded FW architecture skills showing a deep understanding of embedded systems, IO's, I2C/SPI and other interconnect buses


- Strong problem solving and debugging skills for modern-day multiprocessor systems (able to write/debug code, use HW level code debuggers and diagnostics tools)


- Ability to use hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, Flash emulators, ICE, etc. during the firmware development process.


- Ability to comprehend board hardware schematics.


- Familiarity with modern Intel processors and specifications a plus.


- Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms. Able to scale conversations from block diagrams to C-level code explanations.


- Must be able to plan work, and work to a plan adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving environment.


- Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven.
