Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, mid-level Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation for our products and internal processes. The ideal candidate has experience writing for complex subject matter and a background or familiarity with insurance, finance, or accounting-particularly life insurance and annuities, though broader financial services experience is also valued. Job Duties: Own the research, writing, and editing or professional quality process and job guide documentation that establishes standard procedures across our operational teams in a life insurance accounting and finance environment. Review Tasks being performed by individuals in the workplace, interviewing individuals performing such tasks. Mirror/observe individuals performing tasks during the workday. Work with upper-level management to write detailed procedures to perform each task Develop and create Training Modules for the purpose of training and reference. Demonstrate the ability to execute the translation of high-level conceptual information and ideas to written material that is thorough and thoughtful for the intended audience Serve as a subject matter expert on operational procedure and processes, advising leadership through sound decision-making on process optimization or areas of risk. Serve as a senior individual contributor on the operations policy and procedure team, leading by example, displaying a high level of ownership, and mentoring others. Interact and proactively communicate with varying levels of department and operations leadership to ascertain areas of need or improvement in the program Preferred Skills: Familiarity with terminology and regulatory frameworks related to life insurance, annuities, or similar financial instruments. Experience with XML, HTML, or RESTful API documentation. Strong interpersonal communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration. Basic understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working with product teams or developers.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a variety of documentation including product manuals, user guides, policy and procedure documents, API documentation, compliance reports, and training materials. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) across departments including product, compliance, legal, IT, and finance to gather technical information and translate it into user-friendly content. Translate complex topics related to insurance products (including life insurance and annuities) into accessible documentation for both internal and external audiences. Edit and standardize material prepared by other departments and ensure adherence to brand and documentation standards. Manage version control and document updates in response to product changes, regulatory updates, or internal feedback. Support proposal development, RFP responses, and audit documentation as needed. Ensure documentation meets accessibility, legal, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, SEC, FINRA, GAAP standards). Participate in peer reviews, usability testing, and QA processes to ensure content accuracy and user effectiveness. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience as a technical writer, ideally in the insurance, financial services, or accounting sector. Exposure to or working knowledge of life insurance and annuity products is preferred, but not required. Proficiency with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Office Suite, Confluence, and Markdown. Experience working with structured content (DITA) or content management systems (CMS) is a plus. Excellent research, interviewing, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
