COBOL Mainframe Programmer

Location: Madison, WI (Remote with potential onsite 90% remote / 10% onsite as needed) Residency Requirement: Must be a Wisconsin resident or willing to relocate at own expense. Local candidates preferred. Interview Process: Onsite interviews required for local candidates Duration: Through 6/30/2026, with potential for extension

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance high-profile mainframe applications within the Child Care Child Welfare (CCCW) section.

  • Analyze, code, test, and debug online and batch programs using COBOL, DB2, XML, and JCL.

  • Develop technical documentation including specifications, flowcharts, and diagrams.

  • Implement application changes, enhancements, and new modules with post-deployment support.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs and technical standards.

? Required Skills
  • 10+ years of COBOL mainframe development experience.

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Proven track record in customer service and relationship management within IT environments.

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Familiarity with .NET, C#, and SQL Server technologies.

  • Experience working in public-sector or welfare-related systems is a plus.
