Job Summary:

Super Micro Computer, Inc., one of the fastest growing IT companies in the world, is looking for an innovative leader to fill a Solution Engineer position. As a critical member of our Strategic Solution and Global Services department, the Solution Engineer is responsible for performing and completing projects to customer satisfaction in a safe, efficient, and timely manner; performs other duties as required, based out of our headquarters located in San Jose, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
Provide pre and post engineering support for major enterprise and US Fed Govt customers
Participate in design review meetings with product and engineering teams to provide feedback and insight on upcoming product plans (RFP/RFQ)
Create technical content to show customers how to implement specific use cases or best practices for new technologies
Drive product innovation by communicating customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Sales
Follow industry trends to monitor emerging enterprise technologies and applications
Build and review solution configuration per specification by customer
Perform system validation test with required operating system / applications
Support Sales Team in services and technical fields of Standard Server / OEM System / liquid cooling system business practices
Support to define customer requirements, develop and drive localized/customized server product
Collaborate with product team and other departments in term of planning, design, and serviceability of product
New Product Introduction (NPI) management of sample/pilot-run production
Solicit and collect new requirements needed for Supermicro server product
Leverage existing resources and coordinate them for customization on OEM products and meeting customer's development schedule
Lead cross-function teams for sustaining supports like RMA, Failure Analysis, ECO implementations, SOP and services
Provide documentation and technical know-how to service and support Standard / OEM system production lines

Qualifications:
Bachelor or above in Computer Science or other Engineering related major is desirable
Minimum 2+ years of experience working in the enterprise server industry with a related engineering degree (US Fed Govt working experience is a plus)
Excellent communication skills and business sense required
Ability to understand customer needs and create engineering solutions using server, storage, liquid cooling systems, network components, and services
Ability to present the corporate brand, product, solutions and services to customers
Ability to document and write detailed SOP, test plans, technical requirements for customer service/support and manufacturing
Visit on-site facilities and operations to enable solution integration and issue resolution
Strong background and experience with x86-based server architecture
Solid HW system design debugging and diagnostic skills
Strong technical communication and leadership skills to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines
Familiarity with Firmware, Linux, Windows and virtualization platforms is a plus
Self-motivated with minimal supervision; Some travel required (up to 25%)

Salary Range

$73,000 - $120,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
