Position Title: Infrastructure Engineer - Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Duration: Approximately 14 weeks (40 hours/week)
Location: Primarily remote, with 1 2 weeks onsite at datacenter (New Iberia, LA)
Travel: Required; travel expenses covered by client

Position Overview

Our client is at the beginning of an acquisition integration and seeking highly skilled Subject Matter Expert (SMEs) to support a short-term engagement focused on stabilizing and integrating the acquired company s IT infrastructure. This role involves hands-on technical expertise, collaboration with internal teams, and guidance through the integration, migration, and stabilization process.

The engagement will focus on knowledge transfer, environment stabilization, integration into Superior Energy s stack, and operational support during the transition. Once systems are stable, efforts will shift toward migrating workloads to Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform infrastructure assessment and knowledge transfer for the acquired company s environment.
  • Stabilize and optimize servers, network, and storage systems across production and disaster recovery datacenters.
  • Plan and execute integration strategies to align the acquired company s infrastructure with Superior Energy s standards.
  • Provide temporary operational support during the transition and cutover phases.
  • Support migration of virtual machines (VMs) from on-premises datacenters to Microsoft Azure once stabilization is complete.
  • Document configurations, integration processes, and provide recommendations for performance improvements and lifecycle management.

Required Technical Expertise

Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience and deep technical knowledge in the following areas:

  • VMware (current-gen) Strong expertise with Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for production and disaster recovery environments.
  • Cisco UCS Blade Servers Administration, lifecycle management, service profiles, firmware upgrades, and Virtual Interface Cards (VICs).
  • Dell PowerStore Storage Storage provisioning, replication setup, and performance optimization.
  • Dell Data Domain Backup Solutions (DD Series) Backup administration, retention policy management, replication, and restore testing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with infrastructure integration projects or merger & acquisition (M&A) environments.
  • Familiarity with Azure migration planning and execution.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while engaging effectively with onsite teams.
