Job Details

Our client, a leader in the travel & hospitality industry, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to oversee the design, maintenance, and performance of enterprise database systems. This role combines hands-on administration with leadership responsibilities, ensuring data availability, security, and scalability across complex environments.


Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operational support across production, QA, and development environments.

  • Lead installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and tuning of SQL Server databases (2019+).

  • Oversee HA/DR solutions including clustering, replication, log shipping, and availability groups.

  • Ensure database security, compliance, backups, and recovery readiness.

  • Drive query tuning, indexing, and performance optimization.

  • Collaborate with application teams to design schemas, ETL flows, and reporting solutions.

  • Build and manage monitoring utilities, keeping false alarms to a minimum.

  • Support business intelligence/reporting solutions (SSRS, Report Builder).

  • Provide on-call production support in a 24x7 environment.

  • Mentor DBA team members and coordinate with offshore/onshore resources.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Information Systems or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years in database administration, with 6+ years of enterprise SQL Server experience.

  • Deep expertise in SQL Server (2019+).

  • Strong background in database security, backup/recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.

  • Knowledge of BI/reporting tools and ETL pipelines.

  • Proven track record mentoring DBAs and driving best practices.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.


Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Couchbase.

  • Prior experience in large, high-transaction production environments.

  • Certification in Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, or AWS cloud database services.
