The Opportunity
Postman is a pioneering technology company dedicated to transforming the landscape of API development and testing. We are actively seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Cloud Database Engineer with expertise in MySQL, AWS Aurora, DocumentDB, and multi-region cloud architectures to join our dynamic team in the Bay Area. What you'll do
Multi-Region Database Architecture:
  • Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions with a focus on multi-region deployments.
  • Ensure high availability and fault tolerance across diverse geographical locations.

MySQL, Aurora, and DocumentDB Expertise:
  • Administer and optimize MySQL, AWS Aurora, and DocumentDB databases for performance and scalability.
  • Implement best practices for data modeling and indexing.

Multi-Region Cloud Deployment:
  • Configure and maintain databases across multiple cloud regions deployed both using managed services and self hosted within Kubernetes.
  • Implement and manage replication, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in multi-region database deployments.
  • Optimize queries and data retrieval processes for efficiency.

Database Security and Compliance:
  • Implement robust security measures for databases in accordance with industry standards.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with security policies across multi-region deployments.

Backup and Recovery Strategies:
  • Develop and implement effective backup and recovery strategies for multi-region databases.
  • Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery processes to ensure reliability.

Cloud Database Technologies:
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in cloud-native database technologies, including advancements in AWS services.
  • Collaborate with the team to assess and implement emerging solutions.

Collaboration and Documentation:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and optimize multi-region database configurations.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database architecture, configurations, and procedures.
About You
Must have:
  • 5+ years as a Cloud Database Engineer
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Database Engineer with a focus on multi-region deployments.
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL, AWS Aurora, and DocumentDB.
  • Expertise in designing and managing databases for high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native database technologies and best practices.
  • Familiarity with security measures and compliance standards for multi-region cloud deployments.
  • Proficient in database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

What Else?
This role is remote first, and the reasonably estimated salary for this role ranges from $220,500 to $245,000 plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition to our pay-on-performance philosophy, we offer a comprehensive set of benefits, including full medical coverage, flexible PTO, wellness reimbursement, and a monthly lunch stipend. Salaries will vary outside of the listed metropolitan areas & the U.S.
