World Wide Technology is looking for a GMS Support Engineer. This job is part of WWT s Strategic Resourcing services. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT s preferred partners.
Role: GMS Support Engineer
Location: Rosemead, CA (Remote)
Rate/Salary: A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $90.00 to $100.00 hourly on C2C. Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.
Job Description:
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled GMS Support Engineer with hands-on experience in eTerra to support configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational processes within our Grid Management System. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SCADA model updates, switch order management, and both server-side and client-side system administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain eTerra systems including server and client environments
- Monitor GMS operations and respond to system alerts and anomalies
- Troubleshoot issues across server-side components, communication interfaces, and user applications
- Perform SCADA model updates, including adding and modifying telemetry points, statuses, and remote control elements
- Support the creation, validation, and lifecycle management of switch orders within the system
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely data representation in the GMS
- Document configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps following operational standards
- Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience working with eTerra or a comparable GMS/EMS platform
- Strong understanding of SCADA principles and grid operations
- Experience with switch order creation, tracking, and execution workflows
- Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server environments
- Familiarity with both front-end user tools and backend architecture of GE eTerra
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and telemetry specifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience with eTerra Data Dictionary or equivalent modeling tools
- Prior experience supporting a utility control room environment
- Knowledge of NERC CIP or utility compliance standards
