Job Description:

Job title: Business Analyst / Mainframe Systems SME

Pay rate: $70/hr

Location: Torrance, CA (4-days on-site per week)

Overview:

Apex Systems is hiring a Business Analyst / Mainframe Systems SME to support one of our top automotive clients. This role will play a key part in the Project, working on critical Parts Applications initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a Mainframe Systems SME and partner with Project/Team Managers to deliver enhancements and large-scale projects.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed functional and technical designs.
  • Manage assigned work efforts ranging from ~100-hour enhancements to major project components.
  • Execute all phases of the SDLC: requirements gathering, design, coding, testing (unit, integration, system, UAT), implementation, documentation, and warranty support.
  • Define architectural solutions that meet application and enterprise requirements.
  • Provide timely status updates to Project Managers/Leads.
  • Balance workload across analysis/design (30-40%), development/testing/implementation (30-40%), and architecture/solutioning (20-40%).


Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, DB2, and SDLC concepts (must-have).
  • Strong experience in software development and solution architecture for medium to large-scale systems.
  • Hands-on experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and communicate with technical and business stakeholders.


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft development technologies (.NET Core, MVC.Net, C#, Angular).
  • Background in automotive parts systems, warehousing, or supply chain.
  • Understanding of technology strategy, enterprise standards, and cross-platform architectures.
