Job Description

Working with mechanical and electrical design teams to define inverter sub-component requirements and designs compliant with BOD/BOM/BOP. Working with the Product Development Team (PDT) to ensure inverter is designed, built, tested, and delivered on time with quality. Communicating program updates in leadership forums to horizontal and vertical teams. Completing and reviewing DFMEAs and DRBFMs for all parts and design changes. Conducting technical design reviews and initiating applicable assembly drawing reviews. Engaging with advanced teams on inverter design and parts lists development. Developing and executing project timing plans. Initiating and executing engineering change requests, material orders, and bundled service agreements. Demonstrating designs meet requirements by analysis, development, and validation. Working as part of a diverse team of global professionals supporting component development including mechanical design, and thermal, structural, and electrical analysis. Working with PDT to bring Problem Resolution and Tracking System issues to resolution. Collaborating cross functionally with purchasing, supplier quality and manufacturing to align on inverter timing, required design and process updates, and approving electrification program changes. Contributing to the continued development of the BOD/BOM/BOP. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote - Must be able to report to local office listed.

Additional Job Description

REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Automotive Systems Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, and two (2) years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Product Development Engineer, Product Engineer, or closely related role. Or Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Product Development Engineer, Product Engineer, or closely related role. Two (2) years of experience with the following skills: Powertrain component engineering and design release; Geometrical Dimensioning, and Tolerancing (GD&T) and dimensional stackups; Creating designs consistent with Component Technical Specifications (CTS), Subsystem Technical Specifications (SSTS), Feature Technical Specifications (FTS); Utilizing Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools; System level integration; Component operation, design, testing, development, and manufacturing; Performing analytical, bench, dynamometer, vehicle testing, and teardown analysis; Production Part Approval Process (PPAP); Systematic problem solving, including DMAIC and fishbone; Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA); Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R); CAD (2D and 3D); Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE); Warranty analysis; Initial launch quality; Generating engineering drawings and specifications; Creation of technical written engineering evaluation reports; Development of plastic injection molded components; Tolerance stack; 5D; Supplier management; Supplier sourcing; Teamcenter for product lifecycle management; Interfacing with engine performance development and engine system; OEM Change Management Processes; Component Design Review; Technical Design Review; Waterfall methodology; Pugh Matrix; Program timing and milestones; Kano Diagrams; Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH); Trade-Off studies; Hybrid and Internal Combustion Engine vehicle architecture and types; Manufacturing processes, including casting, machining, and injection molding; SOR (Statement of requirements); RFQ (request for quotation); BOM (Bill of Materials); and PPQP (pre-production part quality process).
