About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) Engineer/Architect to design, implement, and optimize automation solutions across a modern, containerized infrastructure. This role focuses on platform engineering, architecture, and operational excellence rather than development alone.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Ansible Automation Platform, infrastructure-as-code, and containerized environments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker), with AWS experience being a strong plus.

AAP Version & Upgrade Needs:
They are on AAP version 2.4; 2.6 was recently released.
Team is struggling with the upgrade → Experience upgrading AAP is a major plus.
Manager prefers candidates who have done 2.x migrations/upgrades and know typical pitfalls.

Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage Ansible Automation Platform clusters in a containerized ecosystem.
Define and implement automation strategies, governance, and standards across infrastructure and operations teams.
Integrate AAP with enterprise systems for authentication, inventory, and CI/CD workflows.
Build and manage scalable, reliable, and secure automation architectures.
Collaborate with DevOps, platform, and cloud teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
Troubleshoot and optimize platform performance, automation workflows, and underlying infrastructure.
Provide technical guidance and best practices for automation adoption.


Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience with Ansible Automation Platform (Tower/AWX) engineering or architecture.
Strong understanding of container orchestration (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker).
Hands-on experience with Linux systems administration and automation at scale.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Solid understanding of networking, security, and configuration management concepts.
Experience with scripting languages for automation support.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing or managing AAP in AWS or hybrid cloud environments.
Knowledge of GitOps, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
Exposure to enterprise-scale operations and multi-team collaboration.
Red Hat certifications are a plus.
