Job Title: Software Lead Architect Data Architect
Location: Plano, TX (On-site, 5 days/week)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Software Lead Architect Data Architect to define, design, and implement robust data management platform solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data governance, data security, and regulatory compliance frameworks such as USGCI, GDPR, and HIPAA. This is a hands-on architectural leadership role focused on ensuring scalability, compliance, and integrity of enterprise-grade data systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement & Solution Definition
- Collaborate with customers to understand business requirements and translate them into secure, scalable, and compliant data platform architectures.
- Lead technical workshops and architecture sessions with customer stakeholders.
Big Data Expertise
- Demonstrated experience managing and optimizing large-scale enterprise data environments.
- Proven ability to design, optimize, and govern data flows and pipelines for high-volume, distributed systems.
Geospatial Data Proficiency
- Hands-on experience with geospatial data models, indexing strategies, and spatial analytics.
- Familiarity with tools and frameworks for managing location-based datasets at scale.
Architectural Oversight vs. System Ownership
- Establish governance frameworks, compliance protocols, and architectural standards for data management.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory and corporate compliance requirements, even if operational control resides with platform-specific teams.
Architecture & Design
- Define end-to-end architecture for data ingestion, storage, processing, access control, and auditing.
- Develop reference architectures, blueprints, and best practices for enterprise data systems.
- Ensure architecture designs comply with global data protection laws (GDPR, HIPAA, USGCI).
Security & Compliance
- Embed security-by-design principles across all data platform components.
- Oversee encryption, IAM (Identity & Access Management), and secure data lifecycle practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and compliance gap analyses to maintain robust data governance.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with engineering, DevOps, legal, and compliance teams to align on governance and security standards.
- Collaborate with system owners and engineering leads to ensure consistent data lineage tracking and metadata management.
- Mentor and guide teams on secure coding, data handling, and compliance best practices.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, data privacy regulations, and architectural trends.
Scalable Design Thinking
- Apply architectural principles that support scalability, performance, and resilience for petabyte-scale workloads.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- 7 10 years of experience in software and data architecture with a focus on data platforms and security.
- Proven experience designing solutions compliant with GDPR, HIPAA, USGCI, or similar regulatory standards.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including cloud-native security tools.
- Expertise in data governance, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CIPP, TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect.
- Experience conducting Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Knowledge of modern data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of Security Compliance frameworks is a plus.
