Job Overview:
The Tennessee Department of Health's Division of Family Health and Wellness (FHW) is seeking a highly motivated, qualified individual to fill a Public Health Educator 3 contract position. The Public Health Educator 3 position is housed within the Tobacco Use Prevention & Control Program. This contract position will work closely with program and evaluation staff to implement evidence-based strategies designed to address the tobacco use and prevention among youth and young adults.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement evidence-based programs/initiatives to address tobacco prevention among youth and young adults.
- Assist and support the expansion of TNSTRONG youth programs and provide technical assistance to those that promote the TNSTRONG initiatives.
- Works directly with the public to facilitate programs, provide community education, and disseminate health-related materials.
- Prepare and distribute program materials to internal and external stakeholders that conduct tobacco prevention programs.
- Work with tobacco team to plan and implement youth engagement trainings for tobacco prevention.
- Participate in regular trainings, workshops, conferences, and meetings related to tobacco prevention and control and the FHW division.
- Develop and maintain cooperative, collaborative, working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program goals and objectives.
- Updates and uses relevant knowledge to support the implementation of health education interventions and programs for the community.
- Identifies the educational needs of others, supports program staff in the development of educational training programs or classes, and teaches and instructs others.
- Assists with the design and delivery of relevant training programs for health department employees, teachers, and other professionals.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in health education, biology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in public health, education, or related field
- Able to complete and prioritize tasks while working remotely.
