Job Description
A major consumer-facing technology organization is hiring a Senior Web Accessibility Engineer to join its digital commerce team. This is a full-time contract role based in Southern California (Anaheim/Glendale area), focused on enabling inclusive and accessible experiences across high-traffic web applications and internal platforms.
This team works closely with multiple development studios to deliver world-class user experiences across a broad portfolio of interactive systems. You'll play a key role in defining accessibility requirements, validating implementation, and mentoring developers on best practices. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about building web experiences that meet WCAG standards and support users of all abilities.
Contract duration: 12 months with possible extension
Primary Responsibilities
Define and validate accessibility requirements using BDD/Gherkin
Develop and maintain automated testing tools, scripts, and infrastructure
Contribute feature code and support engineering efforts beyond testing
Translate technical requirements into actionable code and test plans
Manage CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Xcode Server, VS Build Server) for accessibility testing
Participate in agile planning, code reviews, and documentation
Groom Jira issues to clarify accessibility bugs and provide code-level solutions
Required Skills & Experience
Expert-level understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices
Hands-on experience with assistive technologies (JAWS, VoiceOver, NVDA, Narrator, ZoomText)
Familiarity with accessibility testing tools (Chrome DevTools, contrast analyzers, validators)
Experience resolving accessibility defects and mentoring developers
Strong documentation and communication skills
iOS development or QE experience required
Experience using Jira for issue tracking
Preferred Skills & Experience
Passion for accessibility and inclusive design
Experience developing WCAG-compliant web and mobile applications
Familiarity with Angular environments
Experience contributing to accessibility documentation and guidelines
Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA updates
Exposure to SDUI frameworks like Flutter
Experience using Confluence for documentation
