Description

Job Summary: As a Cyber Security Engineer I, the role ensures the security and integrity of the organization's digital assets. Responsibilities include implementing and monitoring security measures, conducting risk assessments, analyzing incidents, and enhancing cybersecurity infrastructure, all under the guidance of senior engineers and supervisors.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides support in various aspects of cybersecurity, including network security, vulnerability assessment, and incident response.
  • Assists in the management and configuration of security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus software, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Works closely with experienced professionals to analyze and mitigate security risks, participate in security audits, and assist in implementing security measures to protect sensitive data and systems.
  • Identifies and mitigates emerging threats.
  • Tests web applications and monitors inbound security data, responding to security events as needed.
  • Assists with the design and implementation of security solutions.
  • Provides cybersecurity support both independently and collectively, proactively identifying security issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Effectively prioritizes managing multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
  • Communicates technical information effectively to non-technical management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, digital programs, cyber security, or related field. 2 years' experience in cyber security related position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of common cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts, operating systems, and security fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as antivirus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, etc.
  • High attention to details.
  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, customer service, cybersecurity, problem solving, teamwork, and written communication

Preferred Equipment or Software Knowledge or Skills:
  • Knowledge on Cloud based security technologies
  • Extrahop, Sumologic, CyberArk, Varonis, and other cyber security related tools.
  • Understanding of application layer protocols like HTTPS, SFTP, SSH etc.
  • Experience working in both UNIX and Windows based environments
  • Excellent diagnostic / troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable and proficient working in a role that interfaces with multiple cultures and time zones

Work Environment:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Some travel is expected.
