Position: Lead Data Scientist


Location: 100% Remote


Job Type: 12 months Contract - Possible extension




Hiring Manager Notes:



  • Can be anywhere in the US but will need to be able to go to office for brainstorming sessions, sprint planning, etc.. (10-12 times per year).

  • Key Data Science/ML tool requirement for this role is Amazon SageMaker (must-have). Need this person to support the cloud migration to AWS (needs to have some exp/knowledge of AWS and understand the infrastructure of AWS, if they have never done a migration then that is not deal breaker as they can learn from others on the team). Need to be able to conduct the end to end ML development cycle.

  • Need strong data science BG with ML/AI. Not looking for folks in the research arena but industry exp instead

  • Needs to have strong AWS exp. Once they are done with migration will start with new ML development models in the coming years.

  • In Big Data environment now and will be migrating from Big Data environment to AWS.

  • Needs to be expert with SQL. They use Cloudera and HiveQL a lot. Python/PySpark is approved language for programming in Data Science group so strong python BG is required.

  • Knowledge with doing the deployments is required as well.



Job Description:


PURPOSE:


Leads proliferation of machine learning and artificial intelligence throughout the enterprise. Identifies and solves business problems by using various numerical techniques, algorithms, and models in statistical modeling, machine learning, operations research, and data mining. Uses advanced analytical capabilities to support data science initiatives. Communicates across product teams and with customers and educates on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical models. Leads interactions between analytics, business units and other departments.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


20% Leads all data mining and extraction activities and applies algorithms to derive insights.


15% Synthesizes analytical findings for consumption by the teams and senior executives.


15% Leads proliferation of machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions.


15% Applies artificial intelligence techniques to achieve concrete business goals while managing limited resources and constraints around data.


15% Mentors and develops junior data scientists for advanced data analysis.


10% Translates business priorities and creates data science deliverables.


10% Leads implementation of ML/AI/DS best practices for new data products and builds robust and scalable software.

Key Requirement:


Experience building data pipeline for ML and AI models,


Experience optimizing ML/AI Model Code and deployments


Experience with Cloud Platforms, specifically AWS ecosystem, Data Engineering & Data Science Tools



Education Level: Bachelor's Degree



Education Details: Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field



Experience: 8 years of relevant work experience.



In Lieu of Education


In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
