Role: Workday Advanced Compensation Consultant (Higher Education/Healthcare) Location: Remote (Preference for Southern California-based candidates) Duration: 6 8 Months Contract


About the Role: The Client is seeking two experienced Workday Advanced Compensation Consultants to support a Higher Education client in Southern California. The engagement involves delivering advanced compensation configuration and related enhancements within the Workday HCM suite.
The ideal candidates will bring hands-on expertise in Workday Advanced Compensation, strong functional understanding of Compensation cycles, and prior experience working in university or hospital environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead or support the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Workday Advanced Compensation solutions.
  • Partner with HR, Compensation, and IT teams to analyse business requirements and translate them into effective Workday configurations.
  • Support the annual compensation cycle, merit planning, bonus, and allowance setup.
  • Perform configuration, testing (UAT, regression, end-to-end), and provide post-deployment support.
  • Develop and maintain related documentation, including configuration guides and test scripts.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure alignment with institutional policies and processes.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal teams where required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 3 8 years of Workday HCM experience, with at least 2+ years specializing in Advanced Compensation.
  • Proven experience implementing or supporting Workday Advanced Compensation modules (Merit, Bonus, Allowance, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Compensation frameworks within large institutions (preferably Higher Education or Healthcare).
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Workday certification in HCM or Compensation is a strong plus.

Preferred Background:
  • Experience working with universities or hospitals.
  • Familiarity with academic compensation structures, staff/faculty pay cycles, or union-based compensation plans.
  • Prior experience in remote consulting delivery for higher-ed institutions.
