Position Summary:

The Grid Operations, Applications, and Transformation (GOAT) team is dedicated to implementing and maintaining PG&E's Operational Technology including the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), which is fundamental to a sustainable energy future and the Grid of Tomorrow.

We are seeking accomplished, integrity-driven, diverse, and collaborative individuals to join us as a Technical Systems Analyst.

The Technical Systems Analyst will support GOAT's Product Owners and Engineers across a wide range of solutions, including SCADA, OMS, Distribution Advance Applications, and Grid Control Center Applications. This role will also collaborate closely with GOAT's Business Support team, coordinating tasks, resolving defects, and ensuring best-in-class real-time ADMS support.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:
  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $136,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $184,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $232,000.00

  • Minimum Base Salary (California) $129,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (California) $175,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (California) $220,000.00

Responsibilities include:
  • Supports system design and testing activities aligned with the product vision set by the Product Owners.
  • Performs technical evaluations to incorporate new devices and capabilities that evolves the technical vision.
  • Challenge current and future technical needs while driving system standardization.
  • Makes tradeoffs among technical options to balance risk (execution, support, vendor).
  • Makes tradeoffs among technical options for a portfolio of products.
  • Assesses system failures, identifies root cause, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provides data queries and reports to inform Grid Operations.

The Technical Systems Analyst work will involve the following Grid Operation solutions:
  • SCADA Telemetry
  • Outage Management System (OMS)
  • Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR)
  • Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS)
  • Load Flow and State Estimation
  • Volt Var Optimization
  • Transmission Operations Tracking & Logging (TOTL)
  • Transmission Application for Work (TAFW)

The successful candidate should have experience with Grid Operations practices and the corresponding support systems, an understanding of SCADA and ADMS systems, and a general technical understanding of the Electrical Distribution System.

Qualifications

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field of study, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of related work experience

Desired:
  • 5 years of experience working in utility operations.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with and influence at the Director level of leadership across PG&E.
  • Ability to build/ further community & elevate team performance.
  • Execution ability, ownership, and decisiveness.
  • Has excellent SCADA and ADMS technical knowledge and expertise for products supported.
  • Excellent ability to translate user stories/features to technical tasks.
  • Expert level understanding of Agile values and principals
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, highly matrixed environment
  • Familiarity with key Electric Operations systems such as GIS, DMS, OMS, etc
  • Knowledge of distribution equipment
  • Experience working with the following tools: Jira, MS Excel, Foundry, Power BI
  • Programming with SQL, Python, C#, etc.
