Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Cohesity Backup Administrator to support a six-month backup migration project. The consultant will be responsible for implementing, migrating, and documenting advanced backup solutions for Oracle and SQL databases, leveraging Cohesity technology, and ensuring seamless integration with monitoring and IT service management platforms. This role requires hands-on expertise in database backup migrations, automation, and disaster recovery.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of Oracle (including Oracle Exadata) and SQL databases to Cohesity backup solutions.
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot advanced Cohesity backup environments to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Integrate backup status and metrics into monitoring tools (Splunk) with custom dashboards and scripts.
  • Develop API-based integrations with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow CMDB for automated asset and backup status updates.
  • Automate and optimize backup processes using Python, PowerShell, or shell scripting.
  • Configure secure offsite backup and replication to cloud and tape storage for redundancy and disaster recovery.
  • Implement immutability and backup security best practices to protect against ransomware and data loss.
  • Establish and validate disaster recovery strategies, including replication across multiple data centers.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation of configurations, integrations, and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide status reports to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with Cohesity backup solutions.
  • Proven experience migrating Oracle and SQL databases to Cohesity platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Exadata backup and recovery processes.
  • Experience integrating backups with Splunk dashboards and ServiceNow ITSM/CMDB.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cloud storage, tape backup solutions, and disaster recovery architectures.
  • Familiarity with backup immutability and data security best practices.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
