I m working with a prestigious Boston-based university seeking a skilled AI Prompt Engineer for a long-term contract engagement supporting the growth and evolution of their enterprise AI systems. This is a hybrid role, requiring onsite collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders at least three days per week.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in prompt engineering, large language models (LLMs), and AI-driven operations. You ll help drive the success of AI initiatives across the university s service desk automation, administrative support functions, and additional AI-based tools, ensuring consistent and high-quality user experiences.

What You'll Be Doing:
Craft, refine, and optimize prompts for enterprise AI applications.
Design prompt strategies that deliver accurate, appropriate, and reliable LLM outputs.
Conduct thorough testing to ensure prompt effectiveness, accuracy, and safety.
Partner closely with domain experts to tailor AI interactions for IT support, administrative processes, and academic services.
Analyze AI performance data to drive continuous improvement.
Address urgent AI issues as needed (this role occasionally requires off-hours responsiveness for critical fixes).
Develop documentation, templates, and libraries to support consistent prompt engineering practices.
Contribute to evolving AI training materials and support prompt security assessments.
What They're Looking For:
2+ years of experience in LLM and prompt engineering within enterprise environments.
Strong expertise with natural language processing (NLP), context management, and conversational AI.
Solid technical understanding of AI systems and experience collaborating with engineering teams.
Proficiency with systematic testing frameworks and performance analysis of AI outputs.
Demonstrated success adapting AI models for domain-specific contexts.
Excellent documentation skills and ability to share knowledge effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a user-centric mindset.
