Systems Architect III

Introduction

The State of Wisconsin is seeking a Systems Architect III to provide innovative solutions within a diverse Enterprise environment with multiple cloud services and on-premises infrastructure components. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing current technologies, improving performance, ensuring stability of backend services, and collaborating with Information Technology professionals to ensure proper infrastructure design and management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide subject matter expertise in the administration, maintenance, and support of backend systems supporting application development, security, integration, and desktop infrastructure.
  • Direct and manage team members, monitor progress of initiatives, provide detailed specifications for solutions, define project goals, and ensure proper execution.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze technical components, document requirements for updates or new services, and project for possible challenges and constraints.
  • Configure and support Microsoft Windows server administration, Active Directory services, certificate services, and other core services.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and vendors, lead modernization initiatives, and ensure infrastructure evolution aligns with organizational goals.

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Expert level experience in MS Windows server administration - 10 years
  • Active Directory Group Policy implementation and troubleshooting - 10 years
  • Expert knowledge in supporting certificate services - 7 years
  • Expert experience in implementing technology best practices - 7 years
  • High-level knowledge of Omnissa Horizon and vSphere - 5 years

Preferred Skills:

  • MS Visio - Proven competencies in documenting infrastructure components for complex systems - 7 years
  • Leading teams and projects - 7 years
  • Expert knowledge of multi-factor authentication services - 5 years
  • System administrator for MS Azure subscriptions and services - 3 years

Project Details

The Systems Architect III will work closely with Information Technology professionals to ensure technical components are available for projects and working properly. They will also collaborate with the supervisor and project teams to monitor progress, provide detailed specifications, and manage project execution.

•              An in-person interview may be required before a final hire is made.  The hiring manager has discretion to allow phone or video interviews at any point during the process.

•              Interviews will be set up shortly after the posting close date.

•              MUST provide three (3) business references for the interview. (One reference must be a supervisory level.)

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

•              Candidate MUST be physically located in the United States.  International candidates/phone numbers will not be accepted.

•              Candidate must follow ALL DCF work rules

•              Candidate must be available to perform all work during the Central Standard Time (CST) business hours 9:00 am – 3 pm  (or CST hours as defined by the hiring manager)

•              Candidate will be required to provide their own equipment for this position (See job description for required specifications.)

 

Interview process: Over zoom for the 1st round interview.

Onsite or remote: Candidates must be WI residents or willing to relocate to WI within 30 days of the start date at their own expense. (90% remote and 10% onsite). Primarily remote, but candidate must be available to come onsite if needed.

Duration: until 6/30/26 with extensions possible.
