Job Details

Johnson Service Group is looking for a Sr. Telco Application Support Engineer for one of our clients- A pioneer in real-time digital monetization platforms, helping telecom providers design, launch, and manage next-generation services faster and more efficiently. This is a fully remote opportunity, supporting teams in the Central or Eastern time zones, with flexibility for candidates based in the U.S. or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the customer and partner lifecycle to ensure seamless communication and support.

  • Provide remote, high-quality support to customers and partners under demanding conditions across all aspects of the platform.

  • Assist with deployment and operational support activities, ensuring smooth implementation and ongoing functionality.

  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rotation to maintain continuous service availability.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, establishing a trusted advisor position through professionalism and technical expertise.

  • Identify, communicate, and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to support processes and tools.

  • Stay current with mobile technology and industry developments to maintain relevant knowledge and skills.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior colleagues, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Support or Services role, preferably within the telecommunications industry.

  • Hands-on experience with real-time network technologies, including Intelligent Networks, Online/Converged Charging Systems (OCS/CCS), Mediation, and Policy Control (PCRF).

  • Demonstrated technical expertise and experience with:

  • Unix and Linux operating systems

  • Telco applications and systems such as OCS/CCS, IN, Billing, PCRF

  • Networking protocols including DIAMETER, 5G, SS7, MAP, INAP, CAP

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent technical/science-based qualification.

  • Strong communication skills capable of addressing both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working in international environments preferred.

Additional skills in one or more of the following

  • IT and Web Service Protocols (HTTP/REST)
  • Scripting languages such as Python, Perl, BASH
  • Operating systems and programming languages including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Java, C++
  • Monitoring and visualization tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, PRTG
  • Monitoring protocols including SNMP, JMX
  • IP networking concepts such as routing, switching, load balancing, and resilience
  • Cloud and virtualization platforms including VMware, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes/Docker, OpenShift, KVM
  • Databases like Apache HBase, MongoDB
  • Messaging platforms including Redpanda, Apache Kafka, Apache ActiveMQ
