Role: VDI Engineer
Location Santa Clara, CA (Onsite)

Job Description

The VDI Engineer will work closely with VDI engineers and CAD/Developer leads on various engineering level activities. This position will participate in various VDI engineering projects and operational tasks involving CAD and Developer Cloud Image Release, workstation blade hardware lifecycle, global VDI expansion projects, and Tier 3 Problem Resolution.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • VDI Infrastructure focal for CAD Image and Release activities.
  • Handle Windows client image activities, application packaging and scripting, and related project work in the CAD environment.
  • Handle Level 3 issues/escalations within the VDI Infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain Images and Patch Management within VDI environment.
  • Support hardware refresh activities in the VDI environment.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for VDI environment.
  • Publish reports on CAD releases and related activities.
  • Participate in other Global Client Virtualization/VDI projects as assigned.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Provides documentation, process and training to service desk and Administrator level team members.
  • Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during outages or other issues.

Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years in IT with the following areas of knowledge.
  • Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix XenApp, Citrix PVS, Citrix Director, and Citrix StoreFront.
  • Citrix XenServer and VMware ESX.
  • VMware Horizon Connection Server, VMware AppVolume and Horizon Client
  • Citrix MCS, NVIDIA vGPU and Citrix Receiver.
  • Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 2012, Windows 2016, Windows 2019
  • Application Virtualization.
  • User Profile Management.
  • SCCM
  • Active Directory and GPO management.
  • General scripting knowledge.
  • Very detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and transparency of data.
  • Excellent Windows troubleshooting skills, communication skills, and customer service skills.
  • Self-starter who is able and confident to drive end-to-end delivery of service and handle Tier 3 incidents and problems with minimal supervision.
  • CAD and DevOps tools experience a Plus.
  • Lakeside Systrack monitoring a Plus.
  • Infrastructure Automation Tools knowledge a Plus
  • Amazon, Azure and other Cloud knowledge a Plus
  • Linux knowledge a Plus
  • Citrix or VMware Certification
  • Azure/AWS Cloud Certification a Plus
